Highland Extension would like to acknowledge that the information used in this program is from the textbook of the The Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (S.O.B.H.D). The information used in this program was adapted and modified in some areas to be more readily understood by a younger dancer.

Highland Extension wishes to give dancers a unique way to study, and reinforce their knowledge of Highland Dance theory. It is suggested that dancers directly study the S.O.B.H.D. textbook, and look over the The British Association Of Teachers Of Dancing (B.A.T.D.) Highland Syllabus to understand everything that their exam will entail. This program is for teaching or studying purposes and should be used as an enrichment tool.

All candidates should study from the official S.O.B.H.D. textbook and work with a qualified instructor.

Highland Extension was created by Premier dancer Megan Ashworth of California as her Girl Scout Gold Award project in 2007.
